Dear Madyson Jade,

Dear Madyson Jade,

Today is Father's Day. (2011) You are going to be four in a few months. I say it that way instead of saying you are three because honestly you are a lot older than just three. Our day was spent, of course, with your daddy. When I asked your daddy what HE wanted to do on HIS day, he said take you to the movies. All day he has been telling you it is Mady Day. When you first asked why, he told you that it was because without you he wouldn't be a Daddy. He wouldn't be celebrating this day if you were not here. At first you made a face at him like "naw" it is Father's Day, but then you caught on. You are ok with it being Mady's Day. How about Mady Daddy Day.

You are so lucky to have him. Out of everything he could have chosen to do, he chose it to be with you doing something for you that you would want to do. We could have gone fishing (which you would have loved but it was supposed to rain anyways) He could have gone to work on his boat. He could have slept all day. Anything, and he chooses you. Did you read that last sentence. He chooses you. That is important to understand Mady. So many children do not have a Daddy in their life. Some for understandable reasons and others because their Dad's chose not to be apart of their life. Your Daddy chooses you. ALWAYS. I look at him with you when yall play, read, talk, or just sit there with the same stare watching a show your shows. I admire him and the way he is patient with you. The way he would rather lay with you for just one more minute. I admire the way he can have a bad or stressful day, come home, smile (a real smile) because you are there greeting him at the door, or hiding behind the pillows. The way you make him feel in his heart is amazing to me. It makes my heart happy. I know he will always be your protector. I know he will always be the jokester. I know he will always be the "listener". His heart is full of pure love for you in every way possible. You make him proud. You make him proud to be the man he is today. You make him proud to have the daughter he has today. You make him proud to be able to say he is a Daddy and has the most beautiful, giving, warm hearted daughter in the world. He says that all the time. Most people say that little girls have their Daddy wrapped around their finger. You don't. You have him tied in knots around your heart. Forever. You would be so proud of your Daddy for the kind of Daddy he is. One day, when you are older, you will understand what I mean by being proud of the Daddy he is. It is the small things that make him happy. It is the small things that make you happy. He makes your princesses talk with a girl voice just like you ask. He will spend an hour pushing you on the pillow as your squeal with laughter asking him to do it again. He will chase you around the house even after he has worked 12 hours on his feet and just wants to sit down. He will take you on a ride in the truck to get Mexican for lunch and go to the pet store later because you want to. He will read just one more book. He will play the silly games over and over again. He will and he does everything for you. Everything you ask, everything you want, everything you don't know you need.

I am lucky to have a husband that loves his daughter the way he loves you. I am lucky to have a husband that is proud of his daughter the way he is proud of you. I am lucky to have a husband that puts you first no matter what. He is the Man I will forever love. He is the Man that will forever love you. He is the Man that you will one day compare your boyfriends too. He is the Man that every mom wants their child to have as a Daddy. We are lucky to have him in our life and I can not wait till the day you truly understand that! Happy Mady/Daddy Day my sweet chica!

p.s. this is the only time Dad grew a mustache. It didn't last long and there are only a few pictures for proof of it. Hold these hostage for when you need them most in the future!!
