A Bee-utiful weekend

We bought our house first house on April 9th 2010. It is amazing, everything about it! The buying process was for the most part easy. Our realtor was amazing. She knew what I wanted and found it. She fought and pushed for us to get it. Well, towards the end we ran into some pretty tough situations. The garage floor didnt pass inspection. That was the only thing that didn't pass. Everything else was (in the inspectors experiance) "one of the best homes he has inspected for being built when it was built" There was nothing wrong other than the garage floor. It had dropped about 6 inches. It had to be replaced. Dug up, smoothed out, repoured, and evened out. The sellers ended up taking care of this (coasting over $10,000) After that was done, everything went smooth.
Again, we signed in April.

Not 4 weeks go by and all of a sudden there are BEEs in our finished downstairs area. One by one they keep coming in. HONEY BEES. We call a bee keeper and he says, sounds like a swarm of bees (min a few thousand) are moving into your home. Go outside and tell me what you see.. Low and behold, hundreds thousands of bees! He can't get to our house for another day. Not knowing what would happen, what this ment, what would happen next, what to do, I FREAKED. The window above the bees is Madyson's . She is 2 years old. I don't have a clue if her or I are allergic to Bees. The first picture is from the very first time it happened. The second picture is from the second time (yes second time, about 6 weeks later) I am using the second picture to give you more of an upclose look at what we were dealing with. Keep in mind, this is just what was landed on the outside. You have more inside the walls, inside our house, and of course all the bees flying around that have not landed yet.. or "attached" as the bee keeper explains.

Well, not knowing what to do.. I decided to get out of town. I call Kristen and see what her plans are. We decided to take Madyson and Paxston the Gatlinburg to the indoor water park. Thank goodness!
So needless to say my horrible Bee situation turned into a
Bee-utiful over night trip!
Madyson (left) and Paxston (right) Loved that they could reach each other and hold hands. BEST FRIENDS FOREVER.. we hope
I didn't stress, think about, or worry about the bees.
I was going out of town!

When I got home, the bees were gone.. Life was back to normal. Little did I know they would be back 6 weeks later. Does anyone know how to make the Honey Bees leave us alone? So, note to self, when buying a home... ask your neighbors if they have ever seen a swarm of bees move into the house your buying.

update: 2 years later and we have not seen a sign of any bee! Wonderful news!! We also took down the ceiling and there are no signs of a honey comb. Guess we got to the bees before they got to us.. kind of..

The newest member of the family

This is Molly Brown. We got her the day before Mother's Day
She is a lab mix. We are pretty sure she is mixed with some type of hunting dog. Who knows though. She is a mutt and that is all that matters. We adopted her from a local foster parent who took her and her brothers and sisters from the poud. She is 8 weeks old. My husband is happy he got a dog. I am happy it is a girl, she is brown, it is a lab mix, adopted, and floppy ears.
