Simplicity of a Bedroom

My inner heart has always wanted to be an interior designer. People give me money to decorate?! YEA, absolutely. But this is the south. People in the south don’t pay to have another person decorate their home. (at least not the majority of people in the south) So, my inner heart had to be smashed with the realistic truth that I would get no where in that profession (at least not for now while in the south).

No worries though, there is always MY house. Problem 1- decorating cost money.. problem 2- decorating how I want cost more many than I should spend

So every once in a while I get an idea and go for it. This is what I am going for now:

Madyson’s new bedroom!!   the theme.. simplicity

So, here it is.. the inspiring picture. Actually, I plan to copy this as much as possible (minus the rug) so it isn’t my idea but.. it will be Mady’s room.

COLORS I LOVE

I found the link to this room and she even linked where she got everything!
sad news, the curtains are not as coral as they look.. this makes me super sad considering that was the best part. Not sure if the bedspread’s color is off or the wall color. I asked her so I guess we will find out.

# 2 choice-

I did not find a link to any of this but I did see where someone said the paint color is Valspar's Milk Toast and the light is from Ikea. I think a white bedspread would be fine because she isn’t allowed to have anything other than water in her room and honestly she is a clean child. I am not a fan of the curtains but the idea and colors are so pretty!

Simple Details:

NOT THESE COLORS.. but, I do like the curtains in front and behind the bed. It is a different take of the netting that hangs over a bed. To me it adds a little bit of that “little girl princess” look I know she would love. Her bed would be in a slight nook of a wall therefore I know this would work. I am just not sure if it would be to much and un-simplify it.

I would love something like this under her window. I actually found a link (that I now can’t find) that shows how to make this with bookcases and window valence thing for a flat wall window. Not sure if we would have room for it to be like this but maybe?!

This would be cute in her room for her extra “stuff” not this color though.. another ikea piece

I am also looking for a dresser. She does not currently have any type of dresser so we hang everything. I hate hanging clothes. We even hang pajamas. Did I mention I hate hanging clothes?

Simple and Sweet.. just like her.. ok, ok, she isn’t always simple but she is super sweet!

Guess I’ll be posting her new bedroom in the next few months so keep a look out!

p.s. if your bored or like me and just enjoy surfing the web for random things. I really want coral and aqua bedding. I can only find the one in the picture above (which I love) but it is a duvet cover so I’d have to also purchase an insert. In other words.. about $300 total. Ouch

p.s. soon to follow.. I know she has a ton of toys.. and a simple bedroom will not hold them while keeping the simplicity theme.. that’s why there will be a playroom.. whoop whoop

Make Something Monday

Today is:
Make Something Monday
so, My chica and I made something

We made a cute hedge hog out of leaves.. pictures to come soon, he is drying in the window seal.. but pictures below are a sneak peek

and I made this

I got it from Pinterest and decided to give it a shot, not only because it is super cute, but because I needed to see how hard it was for the girls night craft in two weeks.

I made the exact one from pinterest because I love black and white but it would be adorable in Christmas Colors which is what my next one will be in. It would also be adorable in a pattern ribbon!

I made this tree off a blog I found on Pinterest
(beter pictures below)

total of 1 hour
(with a 4 year old needing me every 5 mins, laundry being done, and lunch)

What you need:
scissors, ribbon (depending on your tree size)
mine was a 14 inch tall tree and I used 4 rounds of ribbon at 9 feet each
glue gun and glue sticks
ribbon/string
cardboard or pre-made cylinder

Make half circle but tying pen to string and using as a compass

The fold and glue your cylinder

Cut your ribbon at 4 inches. The last 3 rows I cut them at 3 inches
Hot glue them together in a crisscross way

Glue a row of the ribbons to the cylinder

repeat with other colored ribbon

work your way up the tree

Beautiful Christmas Tree

I can not wait to make this in other colors at our girls night in 2 weeks!

They are becoming an obsession

Mason Jars! Mason Jars! Mason Jars! Mason Jars!
Mason Jars! Mason Jars! Mason Jars!

I have a new obsession. Can you guess what it is?
MASON JARS

I just recently became drawn to putting things in jars.
I am talking from food to bottle tops!
Crayons to quarters! Cotton balls to glowsticks!

I bought my first set of mason jars to begin the new obsession. I decided to just do the fruit I bought and see how it kept. How it looked. How easy it was to use. OMG. I fell in love! I want my entire fridge to be mason jard. As for food in mason jars, I read that when you see somthing on the eye level shelf in your fridge, you are going to be drawn to eat it than something in the drawer. I would agree. I also read that when you use clear tupperware or clear bowls, you will be drawn to eat it instead of a colored one.

So.. here is my first mason jar experience with food!

Dont you love it?
Doesnt it just make you want to eat that yummy fruit?
A plus side of this was; when my chica wants grapes, I hand her a jar. One bag of grapes filled up 3 jars.

I love it.

I really really love it.

Now I have 2 jars in my pantry. Chocolet chips and mixed nuts. I also have a jar with beer bottle tops (these are for a DIY project I looking forward to making) I must say, even the beer tops look good in them. Ill take pictures of them later though.

So, wish my luck on this mason jar adventure.

D.I.M For August

D.I.M  = Doing it myself..
you know, instead of DIY do it yourself..

Anyways.. Pinterest is amazing. I must say it again. Pinterest is amazing. I already have almost my entire house built (the plans for what I want .. not the actual house) So when the time comes.. It is waiting! I have my Chica's birthday party already planned. Food and Decor. I also have quotes that will help me get through the rest of my life. There are ideas for organizing and decorating. All this said, I have a board for DIM AUGUST. A board is a "place" you save your things to. I have so many things saved and so many things I want to do, I didn't know where to start. So I decided to make a board just for August. Achivable!

So.. The plan for August is:

I already have the frames, background paper, and the dry erase markers for this. I just need some printer ink or my best friends beautiful hand writing skills

I love this. I am always looking for ways to hang towels all pretty. Rolled up towels remind me of my Mimi's house. So now, time to go buy a pretty wine rack and pretty new towels!

This I have. Except mine is ugly, white, and doesn't have pretty knobs. This I am going to do ASAP. They used wallpaper but I am thinking scrap paper will be great!

I can not wait to do this! I have the chair. Now I just have to get the fabric and paint. EASY

I found this interesting. I am not sure how well it will work. It is an old cleaners tub thing. (mine will be the empty Clorox container that is larger than this) The put pretty paper around it and
the purpose of it is.. .. ..  plastic bag holder. I have tons of plastic bags and they are so aggravating storing them. Again, not sure how well it will work but Ill give it a shot and let you know

This is just simply smart.

Ill post my crafts as I do them/after they are done and let you know what I think!
