Crystallized Moonlight

 

Some people look into what the name of their child means before they pick a name. Looking for that perfect name to set the person they are to be. When I chose her name, I looked at the meaning of the first but the middle name I knew what it was. It was a pretty green stone.

Little did I know middle name would have so much meaning in the person she is becoming.

JADE

WONDERFUL MEANING- Obviously, Jade is a green stone (it can also be other colors but in Spain, Jade is green stone) What most don’t know is that the stone is believed to give wisdom, balance, and peace. Which is exactly what I see in my Chica. Prehistorically jade was a sign of calm and peace and the jade stone was/is used to give peace and to be humble. The jade stone is categorized with the diamond.

MY FAVORITE- The myths of the ancient China indicated that jade gemstone can be referred to as a crystallized moonlight, which has fallen down to the Earth from the highest tip of the most holy mountains. this gem is regarded as a symbol of the good, the beautiful and the precious

FUNNY INFO:  Jade is derived from the Spanish phrase "piedra de ijada," which means "bowel stones." It was believed that jade could prevent gastrointestinal distress. This is funny because out of the 5 years of her life, gastrointestinal distress is what she has had the most problems with. Funny huh?

MY THOUGHTS:

my Chica has shown wisdom from the time she was a few months old. She has had such a deep understanding of reality. Easily understanding explanations, people, experiences, and situations. She comprehends what is true and real. This is why I call her my literal child. The way her brain works proves she was given the gift of Wisdom.

as for being balanced. This depends on how you take it. I take it as if her personality has everything. A little bit of this and that which then makes for a perfect chica. Humor, understanding, kindness, caring, and the list goes on. She has it all.. she is perfectly balanced in her character.

the definition for peace is the exact person of who she is. Peace: Freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility. A state of harmony. I honestly couldn’t put her into better words.

Now, my favorite part.. Jade- crystallized moonlight.. fallen from the highest tip of the most holy mountain. Beautifully put. Simply put. She is my crystallized moonlight. Forget being my sunshine.. She lights up the dark. she lights up the moments when all seems to disappear. Have you ever been outside, driving or walking, and the world seems so dark and everything seems to have disappeared? Then you look up and see the light from the moon. How it shines with pure beauty in the dark lonesome sky.. Then you start to notice it isn’t alone. The stars begin to shine. You start to look around and see tons and tons of shining stars all around the beautiful moonlight. The moon is not alone.. and you no longer see the dark but yet see all the light.. all the shining light around that beautiful bright moon. She did fall from the tip of the most holy mountain. She fell right from heaven.. from God.. the most Holy -

She is my gem. my wise, perfectly balanced, peaceful, preciously, beautiful, crystallized moonlight gem.

 

So she "did"

Chica is at the age where I have to ask her to do something not once but two to five times. It isn't always like this but, being 5 years old and knowing everything about the world, it does happen. Tonight I figured out a way to get back at her without her knowing. And t makes me laugh:

Me: it's be time. Please go potty
Mady: ugh
Me: Mady, go potty please
Mady: ugh. FIINNEE -aaa
Me: oh thank you!
Mady: (she stomps her foot)
Me: that's awesome you are going potty for me
Mady: (she stomps foot and crosse arms)
Me: let me know when your done bein awesome and going potty like I asked
Mady: (she stomps to the bathroom)


Bahaha. She makes me laugh. Now yes, this behavior is not acceptable. It is not respectful. But honestly it isn't always worth the fight. Sometimes it's worth the secret laugh from a mom getting make at her child in an innocent way. Don't lie, you push your kids buttons on purpose every now and hen too.

So she says

 

 

You may have already heard this {facebook} but I just wanted to put it on here so I could always remember it:

Mady was telling me about her friend getting hurt. I had it narrowed down to two boys in her class. When I asked her if he was black or white she looked at me weird and said "what do you mean?" I said again is he black or white. She looked at me confused and said "I don't really know what you mean by that" (amazing that a child looks at a person as an equal but an educated, smart, adult does not. it’s sad really.. just think, if the human race {adults} had the pureness and honesty of a child this world would be so much happier)

 

So, I have been slightly stressed. well not today, but last week with getting out house on the market, the stress did come for about 2/3 days. One afternoon I had been on edge and I told Mady that. I told her I was aggregated with house stuff and not her. I was happy with her. I told her that multiple times. While laying in bed she says:

 

Mom, I love you
me: I love you too
M: I love you the most when you are mean to me
although this is a bummer moment.. it made me smile and that is what I needed on that stressful day. I shall add this though: I was not mean to her, I was mom to her. She takes it as hurting her feelings or me being mean when I tell her to do something in a “mean” voice because I have asked her to multiple times before. She takes it mean when I am preoccupied with other things (important or not) instead of giving her the time and attention she demands right at that second. I am sure I was not the coolest most fun mom that day but mean.. no no

 

I do not remember word for word the next convo but pretty much.. she said it would be bad if she had to get in trouble with Dad. I asked her who she would rather get in trouble with.. me or Dad.. she said me. I asked her why.. she said “because your mom and.. stuff” she wouldn’t tell me what that stuff meant but the conversation pretty much meant.. you are mom, I can get away with more, I can walk all over you if I choose, I know how to get out of trouble with you, you are weak.. ok.. maybe not the you are weak part but the other stuff was implied by her tiny little 5 year old words. Hummm .. The truth comes out! I guess that is what being a mom instead of being a dad is about.

 

 

Chica has been learning ALL KIND OF THINGS at school. I actually have been amazed. Not really school related stuff because, well, she already knows it all. BUT, bible stuff and everyday things.. she is full of new knowledge! She was telling me we should not kill bugs because God is good and God made bugs for us.

me: what about bugs that bite or sting?
M: you still shouldn’t kill them.
me: what about flies that I kill  {I hate flies and have all out wars with them in my house}
M: you still shouldn’t kill them
me: well they shouldn’t come in my house to be killed
M: well YOOUU should close the door sooner!! {in a smart moving her head side to side attitude kind of way.. like she knows best or something!?!}

 

While studying for my finals, chica told me she was going to doodle. Then she brings me a stack of about 15 pages of her doodles. This is one of them. My favorite! Notice the tail. It is now framed in my hallway along with the “monster getting a pumpkin” picture!

Another quarter passes by

 

It is that time again.. yes fall is here and it is time to put on boots, wear oversized sweaters, watch the leaves change, and plan bonfires.. although that isn't what I was planning on posting about… it’s just, goodness I love fall.

Anyways! It is that time again.. that time where I walk down the hall, say hello to Amanda at the front desk, make a slight right, followed by an immediate left, and then make a final right.. walk into Mr. Spilko’s office to the far right corner and shuffle through the box looking for my name. The box is labels DEANS LIST. So, simply put, the quarter is over and (of course) I made all A’s.. again.

OH yea.. do the happy dance.. oh yea.. do the happy dance.. do the happy dance.. oh oh oh yea

Radiology was amazing! LOVED IT.. I understand fully why K loves that field. Speaking of, she graduated!! She also now has a wonderful job working in Surgery at the main hospital around here. BIG GIRL JOB.. I couldn’t be any more proud of her. I waited so so long for her to succeed. She had her moments of doubt if it were ever going to end but I just wanted to see her finish so I could see her face when she did succeed since it felt so far away for her so many different times. I knew she could and would do it.. yay best friend!

So yes, radiology is the shizzit (cheers K) and I wish we had to take another quarter of it. As for my other class.. Eagle Soft.. ugh.. I mean, I can do computer work. no biggie, and this did teach me a lot about the Dental field. It is just.. just.. well, I I’d rather be in the lab working hands on teeth instead of hands on keyboard. BUT.. it was a good class with a great teacher and wonderful students.

Next quarter.. oh next quarter.. can we say BOOOO and I am not talking about ghost on Halloween. BOooOOoo with a big thumbs down. No dental classes, 3 computer classes right in a row, with a 10 min break in-between each. From 8:30-3:30. Same class room might I add. YEA, it is going to be one of those quarters. 

So in one year I will be finishing school! Just one year. I can not believe how time just flies by.. to think, a year ago I had just started.. now I am half way done! I love this field, not going lie.. I am excited to be probing and fixing peoples mouth. Why not give someone a smile to be and show confidence with? Right?

Big News.. is coming

 

 

no, I am no having another baby..

no, we did not win the lottery..

no, I am not graduating a year early

no, Mady has not yet been named a genius

BUT.. the big news is..

we just may be moving.. soon..

it has it all!

Perfect kitchen, I couldn’t ask for me.. we actually I could, I can always ask for more, but I don’t need more (other than a wine cellar)

Beautiful bathroom.. nothing more to say than beautiful (tub, shower, double sinks, cabinets)

Large master bedroom, not huge huge, but plenty of room for a bed and dresser with walking room. OMG, it has been forever since I could gracefully walk around my bedroom

A closet, a large walking closet within the master bedroom. Yes, that means I no longer have to dart from the shower.. across the hall.. into my “closet/craft/office” and hope my window is covered just to have access to my clothes

It is 3 bedrooms, since the 3rd bedroom will no longer have to hold all “my stuff” it can be.. well.. whatever we want it to be. But we did promise Mady a play room so to start off, a playroom it is. (if it were my dream room it would be 5 bedrooms with an office)

Living room that is open, can be seen from the kitchen, and has hardwood. Actually the entire house has hardwood. NO CARPET anywhere!! The living room is cozy and I love the windows. Speaking of windows, looking out one window from the living room is:

A pool. Let me repeat that. A POOL.. an in ground, fenced in, beautiful pool with a slide. See since I can possible remember, I have always wanted a pool. Yes, they are upkeep and cost money but think about how worth it its going to be. Sitting out by the pool in the hot TN sun. Watching Mady swim back and forth as I lay out in the private area of my own pool patio. The furniture, please don’t get me started on the options for pool patio furniture. Gazebos, Grills, Bars, Couches, Lay out chairs.. oh goodness the possibilities!

So, back to the house..

Did I mention the L.a.u.n.d.r.y. room! Everything is on one level (which didn’t matter to me) but the laundry room on the main level was a must. It isn’t just a closet with washer/dryer.. it is a mud room. For rain boots and jackets! Yep.. pretty wonderful, I can only imagine

Then there is the garage. What was that size? Oh yea.. 30X40. For the ones that have no idea how BIG that is.. They had, 3 (beautiful) cars spaciously parked along with a couch, pool table, and stuff. HIS stuff. It was the man cave area for sure. It is also perfect for adding on additional rooms in the future. It already has a full bath in the garage, so spilt it up into a den and another bedroom.. badabing we have 4 bedrooms, large den, and dining room. (the 3 things it is missing).. there is a detached garage (needs work) so we would still have a garage if we did all that.. in the far.. far.. future.

Drive way. Not just any drive way. A drive way that has a huge flat area. Meaning, Mady gets a bike for Christmas. Heck we can all ride bikes at the same time around the drive way. While some people roller skate and everyone brings their dog. Yes, it is a huge driveway.

Which bring me to the word huge. The house is not big. Just a simple 1700 square feet. The land. OH THE LAND. yea, 5.1 acres. Re read that.. yep.. you read right. We could possibly be the owners of 5.1 acres in just 2 months. Camping on our land? YES. Hikes on our own land. YES. Four-wheel on our own land. YES. YES YES YES, we can do it ALL on our own land!

So what I see for our future if when we get this house.  Pool parties, Never having to find a location for Mady’s birthday parties, Swing set, bikes, awesome hill for sledding (maybe), molly running around free and happy, cooking dinner while Mady does homework at the kitchen island, the smell of cookies baking, running from one end of my bedroom to the other, bubble baths. My list goes on and on. Actually most my list consist of being outside.

The current house we are in, we look like trash. Mady in her kiddy pool, me laying out in a dress so my legs can get tan, toys strung all over the yard, the FRONT YARD that is all but what? like 30 feet from the road. Yea.. so no neighbors in sight, with land and driveway, and pool, grass areas, and fences.. sounds pretty amazingly perfect huh?

well we will just wait and see. wait and pray. wait and hope.. we are currently under contract right now.. and really, this is the first public thing I have put out there about it. Close friends know, teacher at school knows, most family knows.. so now.. you know 

it could go either way.. we should have a few answers over the next few weeks. Waiting on this and that and this and that.. and oh yea, our house needs to sell also.. That is kind of important and all. Since we don’t want 2 mortgages and such.

I wish my life was recorded. Not all parts of it.. (we all have those moments we are GLAD no one is recording us) but If only I could truly portray how my Chica talks and the tones/faces she makes when she says something.. anything.. everything..

Time for a quick "and so she says" post..

Mady: You know... I'm a Christian.
me: You are?
Mady: yes, and I love god more than anyone loves him
me: That's good
Mady: I think about god
me: You do? I bed he likes that
Mady: I don't know why I do but I do
me: That's good. You should think about God
Mady: You know.... I'm more than a Christian.

 

I made her some apples for breakfast one morning..
Mady: these are cool apples
me: you like them?
Mady: yea, you should put them on pinterest
(OH this girl learns fast!!)

 

Most of you know, I recently got a new car. I know I didn’t need a new car but I really wanted a lower car payment. Yes, it is a BMW but the fusion was a year older, brand new, less miles, and high payment.. the BMW has great miles, only one other owner, and cheaper. So why not right? out with the new, in with the old!

Mady: so, I was going to ask you.. do you like your new car?
me: yes I do
Mady: why did you get a new car anyways
me: I don’t know, I like this one better.. its cute
Mady: yea.. and its less money?
(this girl listens to my conversations)

 

Currently, Mady and I get up before Zak during the week. Thank goodness he doesn’t have to be at work at 5 or 6 like he once was having to do.. (at least for now)

me: Mady, will you go wake up your Daddy
Mady: he is already awake
me: oh, how do you know?
Mady: because he made that :::makes a morning man noise snorting and hacking::: sound
me: hahaha, that is funny.. he does do that every time he wakes up
Mady: I know right?

 

I got hit hard for a few days with the allergies that most people in the south have. While driving in the car on one of the “sick” days
me: sniff.. sniff.. cough.. moan.. sniff… moan
Mady: mom, just don’t think about it
me: I’m trying not to. I just don’t feel good
Mady: you’ll be ok

I guess that goes to show you how much sympathy she learns from me when she is “sick”

 

The next one is a little creepy and I thought about NOT posting it because I don’t want you or whoever to judge or find my child.. well.. creepy.. but I am posting it because it is strange
(last night, after putting her to bed.. she calls me back in the room)
Mady: mom, I am scared
me: why? there isn’t anything to be scared of
Mady: I keep hearing a snake sound.. and the devil talking in his devil voice
me:  ::I look at her confused:: you what?
Mady: I hear like   ssssssssss.. Hello, and the hello is in the devils voice. It’s in my head and I just can’t stand it
me: umm. ok.
Mady: I can’t stand it. I need water too
me: well, lets get you a glass of water.. why don’t you just sing songs or talk to God.. then maybe you wont have that stuck in your head
Mady: ok.. I’ll try
(this morning)
Mady: I still hear that snake sound and the Devil.. I talked to God but it didn’t work
me: umm, ok.. well maybe going at school will get it out of your head
(weird right?  what does the devil’s voice even sound like? I honestly had no idea what to say to any of that.. strange strange.. it sort of freaked me out.. and the night before I watched a documentary on children that are schizophrenic.. so yea.. weird)

Simplicity of a Bedroom

 

My inner heart has always wanted to be an interior designer. People give me money to decorate?! YEA, absolutely. But this is the south. People in the south don’t pay to have another person decorate their home. (at least not the majority of people in the south) So, my inner heart had to be smashed with the realistic truth that I would get no where in that profession (at least not for now while in the south).

No worries though, there is always MY house. Problem 1- decorating cost money.. problem 2- decorating how I want cost more many than I should spend

So every once in a while I get an idea and go for it. This is what I am going for now:

So, here it is.. the inspiring picture. Actually, I plan to copy this as much as possible (minus the rug) so it isn’t my idea but.. it will be Mady’s room.

COLORS I LOVE

 

I found the link to this room and she even linked where she got everything!
sad news, the curtains are not as coral as they look.. this makes me super sad considering that was the best part. Not sure if the bedspread’s color is off or the wall color. I asked her so I guess we will find out.

# 2 choice-

I did not find a link to any of this but I did see where someone said the paint color is Valspar's Milk Toast and the light is from Ikea. I think a white bedspread would be fine because she isn’t allowed to have anything other than water in her room and honestly she is a clean child. I am not a fan of the curtains but the idea and colors are so pretty!

Simple Details:

NOT THESE COLORS.. but, I do like the curtains in front and behind the bed. It is a different take of the netting that hangs over a bed. To me it adds a little bit of that “little girl princess” look I know she would love. Her bed would be in a slight nook of a wall therefore I know this would work. I am just not sure if it would be to much and un-simplify it.

I would love something like this under her window. I actually found a link (that I now can’t find) that shows how to make this with bookcases and window valence thing for a flat wall window. Not sure if we would have room for it to be like this but maybe?!


This would be cute in her room for her extra “stuff” not this color though.. another ikea piece

I am also looking for a dresser. She does not currently have any type of dresser so we hang everything. I hate hanging clothes. We even hang pajamas. Did I mention I hate hanging clothes?

p.s. if your bored or like me and just enjoy surfing the web for random things. I really want coral and aqua bedding. I can only find the one in the picture above (which I love) but it is a duvet cover so I’d have to also purchase an insert. In other words.. about $300 total. Ouch

 

p.s. soon to follow.. I know she has a ton of toys.. and a simple bedroom will not hold them while keeping the simplicity theme.. that’s why there will be a playroom.. whoop whoop
