First Day {part 2}

Guess what?!?! I made it the 3 hours and 20 mins today. I’m not going to lie, it was long! They sent home the schedule of the kids day so while I am sitting at home looking at the time every 20 mins, I knew exactly what she was doing. This helped a lot! I managed to occupy my time by cleaning out her closet (for the most part) and picking up the kitchen. Tomorrow should be easier. At least I hope, because I have some major homework to do that is due on Thursday. Really though, tomorrow should be fine.

You know when I was worried that no one took her to her class room after I dropped her off? There is a line inside that the kids sit on until the person comes to get a handful of kids at a time and leads them to the class. I saw her sitting on the line when I picked her up today. Lucky me, her teacher is the car rider lady sooo, I got to talk with her teacher about her first day, unlike most parents. (thank you God for another moment of calmness and reassuring) Her teacher said she had a wonderful first day. That she is so sweet and very well mannered. Then she looked at me and said, “really.. she is very well mannered.” That a girl Mady!!! Go Momma! Go Daddy! I knew we were doing something right. Honestly I already knew what she told me but it is always great to hear that from another person. Especially a teacher who has to deal with kids all day long.

If you know Mady, and you have read my post before, you know she isn’t one to really elaborate on her day. Mainly school days she seems to keep to her self. This is how it has been from the first day of school when she was 3 years old. Now, 2 years later.. it is still like that. I can’t ask what did you do or learn today because she will reply.. umm, I forgot. or I don’t want to tell you right now. I think it is her grown up/personal/only thing that is hers and her mom can’t chime in on everything and anything about it. I have always let her keep it to herself only asking, “tell me the funniest thing, the best thing, the most fun thing, and the thing that you didn’t like” this way I get let in a little bit but she doesn’t have to give me every detail of every day . It seems to be our compromise and sometimes I get more when I back off with the questions right when I pick her up.

Today was just the same as any other day when I picked her up. She did get in the car with a big smile. I did see her smiling and what appeared to be talking to a child next to her on the line inside. So, as I know you are wanting me to stop blah blahing and tell you what she said about her first day, here it is:

Me- how was your day?
Mady- it was good
Me- awesome! I knew you would have a good day
Mady- yea, except some kids didn’t listen very good
Me- oh, that’s a bummer, did you listen good
Mady- well yea

LETTER LEARNING

They learned about the letter “I” today. She glued beans to a print out of the letter “I” and also colored an inch worm that starts with the letter “I”. She also said (which I am unsure of what she is talking about but I figured I’d document it for the future) that she thinks she knows what the word is going to spell. It will spell Ice-cream because Ice-cream starts with I but they only got one letter today because it was the first day. I assume they are spelling a word and each day get a new letter?! If she gets this right, she may be a crossword genius right?!

(before bed a few mins ago)

Me- so, did you learn anything today? Did your teacher teach you anything?
Mady- actually I did learn something today. I learned that Indian starts with the letter “I” and I didn’t know that. So yea, I learned.

FRIENDS

she sits next to a girl named Sydney. She doesn’t remember the name of the girl that sits across from her or on the other side of her. She and Sydney did talk at the table.

She told me that no one would play with her on the playground and she even asked kids to play with her
(I explained that it takes a little while to make friends) She fell off the seesaw today. She said that the other kids didn’t know she was getting off and she fell off. This was after I asked her what happen to her knee. The moment I let her out of the people I know and trust, she goes and scrapes her knee up. (not that I really care because that’s part of being a kid) She didn’t cry though and she didn’t even have to shake her knee to make it feel better. (we shake our pain away)

(before bed a few mins ago)

Mady- Sydney is bigger than me.
Me- oh yea? like older or taller?
Mady- I am not really sure
Me- what makes you say she is bigger than you?
Mady- she can push her self on the swing
Me- OH, well how do you know that?
Mady- because I asked her if she wanted to learn how and she said she already knew how. She did it anyways with me
Me- she did the swings with you?
Mady- yea
Me- awww, that was nice. So you did play with someone today
Mady- well, not like a lot but on the swings we did

Mady- another girl gave me sea shells
Me- oh yea? That is really nice
Mady- That china girl, she sits on the corner of that one table, ya know?
Me- no, I don’t know.
Mady- yea, like I sit here and she sits on this table on the end
Me- oh, ok
Mady- she didn’t already have them but she got them off the playground. I didn’t want them so I gave them to the other teacher. I think that girl was nice

TEACHER

Her teacher seemed nice when I met her the other night. Like I said, her teacher is in charge of carline for mornings and afternoons so I get to see/talk to her. She seems really nice then too. I asked Mady if she liked her teacher and she said “yea, I do, she is pretty, and I think she likes me too”

If you ask her how her day was she responds with “ok” when you ask her why ok? What could make it better? She responds with “it would be a great day if the other kids would listen but they will never listen” I feel like I should say, welcome to the real world.. where kids don’t listen, disobey, and are rude. other than her of course.. haha. I am sure there are a few kids in her class that are raised with respect and manners, or at least I hope so.

So, like I said.. tomorrow should be easier. I wont be on here telling you of my “mom moments” because I will be having “student moments” doing homework or “wife moments” cleaning house.

Thank you for the prayers, thoughts, and checking on how her day went. It was nice getting those text during the day asking how she did. Yall mean a lot to me! (some of yall don’t read this often but when you do, thank you for asking without knowing how my morning went)

First Day

Today was the first day of Pre-K {at a new school} and of course it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. It has been 30 mins since I left her at a new school with new teachers and new kids, and I can’t even being my own homework while thinking about what she is doing. We met her teacher last night who seems to be great. We saw her classroom, met other parents/kids, and even made sure we she knew where the bathroom was. She seemed calm and excited, I seemed calm and excited.

Parents could drop them off at the PreK drop off or take them in. Of course I wanted to walk her in but she thought the car line would be cool soooo, the car line we did. If you are there before 7:45, the kids go to a classroom and wait until time to go to their class room. They said they would have someone walk the kids where they are supposed to go. As I pull up 5 mins early, first one in line.. The lady opens the door and takes her out, all I get is a “BYE” and off she goes. I didn’t see anyone else inside the door to walk her, I didn’t get to kiss her bye, she was just gone. I drove away for the car line, the drove from the school, then decided I had to go back. Was she upset that she didn’t tell me “Bye” with a kiss like that one time in preschool last year? Was she standing there alone unsure of where to go. Would she be quite and just stand there or actually talk to someone and ask for help? Yea, I had to go back. The line was long this time, all I kept saying was PLEASE God, let there be a parking spot for me. Please God. Of course, God is good, and there was a parking spot. Shoot, I have on a tshirt from the place in Hawaii that I got a tattoo. Is that ok to wear inside a Christian School? Oh well, I’m going in anyways. I walk into her hallway and see the group of kids in the random classroom. As I step in front of a few kids talking with a teacher, I look in and don’t see her. Then as I turn around she is right behind me. Standing in the group of kids I pushed to the side to look for her. She looks up at me and smiles slightly. HER teacher was the teacher talking to them. She was talking to my chica telling her she would go in that classroom and she would come get her and the other students when it was time. She was probably confused why I was and how I was standing there in front of her, but she was too busy listening to her teacher. I saw the slight nervous look on her face. After her teacher told her to go in, I grabbed her for my kiss goodbye. She smiled slightly and went in. She was nervous (who wouldn’t be at a new school on the first day) I could tell. I saw it in her eyes. She didn’t talk. She was twiddling her fingers. I hate that she is nervous. I get nervous, I am nervous, and that feeling is so unsettling. I don’t want her to be nervous, but that is who she is and she will be fine. She is always fine.

As I drove away, it hit me once again. That choked up feeling. Trying my BEST not to let the tears stream down my face I took deep breaths. It didn’t work. I cried. I realized I didn’t tell her that her school supplies were in her backpack. Shoot! So then I pray. Pray that her nerves settle, that she makes friends, that she doesn’t get lost anywhere. The, what I consider, normal prayers that any parents has for the child on the first day of school. I called Zak to hear is strong encouraging words. The words I look for when my life or my moments seem anything other than joyful. He is soooo cool calm and collective. There are times I question why God gave me a man that thinks everything in life is ok or will be ok. Then I have moments like this morning when I know that is why I have him. Life is and will always be ok, he believes that always and although it drives me crazy sometimes, it is the only thing I need at other times. He sounded like he was expecting me to call him, go figure, he knows me well. I don’t know what I would do with out my husband. Always being everything I need at moments I can’t seem to pull it together. He pulls me together.

What I really want? I want her home with me. I want to play barbies or color. I want to watch Hanna Montana while we eat breakfast together. All those mornings of just hanging out are over. I want to be at school with her. I want to make sure she knows where she is going, what she is doing, and that it is ok to talk to others. She seems way too little to be in school. I have to trust people I don’t know that they will understand, care, and protect my small shy little girl. This SUCKS. I am ready to go get her but I have to wait. WAIT 3 hours and 20 mins until I get her. Thank goodness I didn’t decide to do full days this year. This is going to be the longest 3 hours and 20, 19, mins of my life.

So, if you are reading this and it is before 12:00 on Tuesday 8.14.12, please say a little prayer for her. If you know her, you know the things you should pray for. If you don’t know her, pray the things you would for your own child.

Preview of my little DANCER

As most of you know, Mady had her first session of Dance Classes this summer.
Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. It was a fairy princess class, meaning that each class they got to wear a different princess dress. Now, the class is over..

I have so many pictures and videos that I have been saving for one big post.. but right now, it being 12:20 am, I don’t really want to post them all. I do however have a quick video of her doing her Jazz Dance

Out of the Jazz Ballet and Tap, she will tell you Jazz was her favorite. I think she likes to shake her booty, clap her hands, and do a choreographed dance. She started to really pick up on the Ballet the last 3ish classes and has ended up really good at it. As for Tap, she was one of the best in her class.

I am in the middle of trying to decide on what to put her in for the fall (classes start Aug 20th)  with some conflicting “issues” and a little chica that doesn’t seem to be able to make up her mind. We may or may not continue for the fall. My hope, there will be another post in 8 weeks showing how much she improved and a video (which most of you will see in person) of her recital (they didn’t have a recital for summer)

Anyways.. anyways.. here is a preview of what is to come:

Just some Jazz

Opinion #2

Last night the husband and I watched some movie from redbox. I don’t remember the name (cause I never remember the name) and I don’t remember who was in it (because I don’t ever remember the name of the actors) BUT, it was about a man who finds God and goes to Africa and builds and orphanage for the kids that lost their parents in the war that was/is going on (dealing with Kony I believe). It was based on a true story (which always interest me) anyways….

I think that “we” as in Myself, you, and everyone else in America.. need to hush down about our life and how much it sucks. How dare “I” complain about anything when kids, families, people are dealing with CRAP like others deal with not in America. So what if gas prices are going up? Really? Is that who we as America are? (unfortunately, yes we are) So the government is messed up, it screws us bad in unfair situations. SOME EXAMPLES for ME

*** Z and I waiting until we were financially stable for me to go to school. We waiting until Mady was older and we were settled.. Then we decided it was time for me to work hard at my future and to school I went. I do not get the “PELL GRANT” because Z makes to much money. Just because he brings home a certain amount does not mean we have that amount in our pocket to spend.  If we were not married, he didn’t work hard (and we were not blessed with his pay checks) then the government would pay me to go to school. If we had decided for me to go to school when life was unbalanced, I wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket for me to better my life. UNFAIR?  YES

*** how dare I complain (which I actually don’t do often because it is what it is) but how dare I complain about being able to go to school. Tons of people (in the USA also) don’t have a chance AT ALL to learn or work towards doing what they want to do with their life.

*** Prime example, is it unfair and messed up that the lady across from my old duplex wasn’t working, (neither did her husband) and she had like 8 kids (living in a 2 bedroom home, which is actually illegal for renting unless it is a private owner in which this case it was not) and she got who knows how much in food stamps, free healthcare 100%, and didn’t have to work towards nothing except putting her lawn chair in the front yard while her kids ran around crazy.. in the mean time, I am kicked off tenncare because Z and I are married, and he works at a place that offers health insurance (at 600 a check for family) so we can’t afford that plan so I go without health insurance. for 2 years.. is that fair? NO WAY

*** how dare I complain about that.. I am lucky to even have a doctor or hospital in driving distance. Some people do not have healthcare offered regardless because no one is there with the education to be able to help fix/cure/treat whatever is going on.

What about complain because the heat/air conditioning bill is too high?

Really? I mean, at least I have to option to turn my heat or air on.

My point? This is America.. we are ALL money hungry.. the government, workplace, judicial system, educators, and honestly even friends or family will screw us over somehow at some point (not my family.. but some families).. If you live in America, just expect it. Expect the gas to reach $5 before the next 5 years. Expect taxes to come out of your hard earned money, Expect it all.. Anything and everything.. Also, respect and appreciate the complains you have. Turn the complaints into thanks. Thank you for allowing me to turn my air on when it is 100 degrees outside. Thank you for the job I have so I can at least attempt to pay the bill for turning the air on when it is 100 degrees outside.

Although it could be “better” in many ways.. in so many more ways it could be worse. WAY WORSE.. can’t even wrap my head around how worse it could be.

“We” as in myself, you, and America.. “we” are selfish. Very selfish. Its crazy when I think about it. It is crazy the things I complain about, or get caught up in. My Fall resolution?! To stop and think and turn my complaints into THANKS

So Lord.. Thank you for America. Thank you for the freedom to voice my opinion. Thank you for the computer that I am typing my opinion on. Thank you for the money that I pay for the computer that allows me to type my opinion on. Thank you for America

Really people? do we have to be that selfish? I THINK NOT

opinion #1

By now, everyone has heard about the Chick-fil-a hooha. Yes, it is a bunch of hooooha. I am tired of it. So what if the man said he doesn’t support same sex marriage. He never said he wouldn’t serve them, he never said he wouldn’t employ them. (at least, not what I heard/read and if I am wrong on any of this, please let me know)

I say go for it. If a man loves a man or a women loves a women.. go for it! Love is love.. and as a Christian, we are not to judge. That is God’s “duty” if you will. If they will be judged for it, then allow them to be judge by God.. not by you or me or anyone else.

Honestly, I am sure there are tons of same sex relationships that are more loving, God filled, honest, loyal, and overall better than some of the relationships between a man and a women.

As for Chick-fil-a. I think it was stupid to have a support chick-fil-a day. All the people that took the time our of their day to support him!? Are you kidding? If you support him, and I say him because I do not believe that all the employees there believe the exact same thing that he believes, but if you support him for stating what he believes in than awesome… nothing wrong with that, but to the ones that support him for stating an opinion about same sex marriage because that is what the bible says and you believe in the bible and are a Christian and you too think it is wrong, well.. mainly if you support him just because you are a Christian.. then how about all of you that showed up that Wednesday go to the local food bank or on a mission trip and actually show that you believe and live by God’s word. How about you take the time out of your day to help the homeless. Can you imagine what could be done is the amount of people that showed up to chick fil a that day showed up someplace where they are needed. Or donated the amount the spent on food to someplace that needs it. THAT is what being a Christian is about, not about waiting till one person speaks their mind, making a big deal about it, coming up with some stupid support chick fil a day, and then wasting time going to a place to eat that you can eat at any day (but Sunday). I guess they got me too though, cause hear I am talking about it.. although it is the first time I have stated my opinion to anyone.

All it did for chick-fil-a was make them money. Money that could go towards something or something in need. Money that could make a difference. Did that Wednesday make a difference in the world? The only thing it did was make people want the chicken. I do believe the man has the right to say what he believes in 100% .. that is NOT the problem at all. I don’t believe that the people who boycotted it because of HIS opinion is right.. he is one man, the employees all over the USA do not need to be judged because they work there, just as the people who are gay that eat there.

I did see a letter from a gay man stating that he would continue to eat there. That it didn’t bother him that the man gave his opinion because, he too has an opinion about things. That it didn’t make a difference in his world/relationship/life what that man, or 1,000 other people thought. Although he wants to marry the love of his life (being another man) and he can’t in the state (in the south) he currently is in, he would continue his life living it for God not judging. He would continue to try to uplift and give the persona of a Gay man a better name than the ones out there that are self righteous and think that the world owes them or is out to get them. He lives in the south and although has many run ins with situations, he would continue to support his beliefs while allowing others to support their own.

Soo, to the people (Gay or not) out there.. get over it. People are going to hate you for many reasons. Female/Male.. Color.. Religion.. Relationship.. Size.. Color of your hair.. the list goes on and on and on. Just move on in life. Eat the chicken or not.. doesn’t matter, live your life believing what you believe, doing what you do, and being who you are.. just try to make a difference in the world by being the best person you can be for God (or for yourself) and grow up people.. Just grow up..

I say, love is love and keep on loving!

Will birds poop on it?

At Paxstons birthday party, my Chica got some play dough. She has been playing non stop with it for 2 days. Her main creation (that has been created about 105 times) is a bird neat with eggs. This morning, after making sure we had more play dough, she decided she wanted to set it out to dry. By out.. I mean outside. As she is placing it on that perfect spot at the end of te porch, she starts to get worried.

Mady: mom. Mom. MOM. If I leave it outside. Will the birds poop on it?

Me: no

Mady: are you sure? I really don't want bird poop on it

Me: I'm sure

Mady: do you promise?

(this I can't promise because for some very odd reason we have a bird that comes under our porch and sits on the edge of the ceiling and poops all over the part of the porch we walk on

Me: it won't poop on it

Mady: will the birds think it is their nest

Me: no

Mady: but how do you know?

Me: we'll, it's made of play dough. They will know it isn't theirs by the ell and look of it

Mady: but mom, it really looks like a bird nest. I did it perfectly

Me: ::ha:: yes I know. But birds are smarter than that

Mady: but if birds are smarter then why do they poop on the porch?

I
